Hey Y’all! We just wanted to delve in a little deeper into the results of the survey for those of you who want to know just how we decided on the when and where.
The West Coast was chosen for the following reasons. It got 50% of the first place votes, where the East Coast got 28% and the Rockies got 22%. Also, 78% of people voted for the West Coast as either their first or second choices. Oregon and Washington were the most logical places because there are multiple people within close proximity to the area who could check out prospective locations.
We chose the second week in August based on the information given about what time would absolutely not work. Given this information, the second week in August was the only time when everyone (according to the survey) could make it. August was also the month that had the most votes for preferred month. If this has changed for some reason please let us know by posting your comments on the blog or using our Reunion 2010 liaison service (Jeana).
Finally, as far as accommodations are concerned, 68% of people said that they would like a campground, 62% a cabin, and 53% a group house. Only 26% said that they would a hotel and only 37% wanted a resort. We therefore decided that a central group house to be used as Reunion Central with campgrounds nearby was the best choice.
Thanks for putting up with the rookie reunion planners. We love to hear any feedback y’all have!

Okay, I'll try a comment on here, just to be sure it works!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Amy, Jon and Jeana (what a team!) for setting this up for us. I like knowing all this.
It sounds a lot like Port Townsend, doesn't it?
It would be important that the group house have rooms with beds for those who don't camp.
I don't have a strong preference between Washington and Oregon, so I don't think I'll vote on this one. Both are beautiful and have airports we can fly into. (Portland, Eugene, Sea-Tac).
Just wanted to post a comment in response to the concern that California was not included.
ReplyDelete1) We did CA a couple reunions ago, so thought another state would be fun.
2) WA and OR are within "check it out" distance from the reunion planner.
That was the thought process. Really, there is one...despite how it may seem, everything so far has been carefully thought out. :)
